Highland Park Composite (HPMTB) includes grade 7-12 riders from Highland and neighboring schools including Twin Cities Academy, Mendota Heights Gethsemane, TCA, SPA, Avalon and Henry Sibley. We are part of the Minnesota High School Cycling League and the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA).

We have fun rides, practices for all levels, and anyone can join. Everyone rides – as described by pinkbike and MPR . it’s a great way to develop a lifelong healthy sport.

View our Orientation presentation to learn more about HPMTB. To join the team just email info@hpmtb.org with student name, email to use, parent name, and for the 2018-2019 school year name of school and grade.

The Basics

Our season runs from July to October. We use TeamSnap site to manage the team – snap.hpmtb.org. Only registered riders can access this page. Key information goes out by email to our Team Snap members, our blog has most of these.

Try it out

There are two ways to try out Minnesota mountain biking. Under league rules interested students can join a single HPMTB practice. Email info@hpmtb.org to set this up, we’ll need to know grade for Sept 2018 and school and we’ll send a waiver to complete.

The other way is to join a Minnesota Mountain Biking League Try-It-Out session. That’s done with the league, so check the web site.

Racing – NICA

See the Minnesota League site for the race schedule and the key race flyers. Races are also posted on our Team Calendar.

HPMTB Race Guide (details vary by race)

Our team needs to provide 4-5 volunteers for each race. Please consider signing up! Here is the MN League Volunteer Sign Up Link

Summer Race and Camp Season

True North MTB/DevCamp happens every summer (full for 2018)

Practice Info

Our educational goals.

We typically practice Tues/Thur for two hours and have either a weekend adventure trail ride (2-3 hours) or a race. Start times vary based on daylight. We use TeamSnap to organize events, you can see a public version of our calendar on this site. The Rides and Trails has directions and trail info.

We monitor MORC Trail Conditions prior to practices and may change sites as needed. We don’t ride wet trails.

If there is active thunder, lightning, hail (official storm warning) we will cancel practice. We practice in rain; dress for being wet.

Practice cancellations or quick changes: update Calendar and send out TeamSnap alert. If we are short ride leaders 36h prior to practice we will cancel.

See also our training books and videos page and Required tool kit for practice. Be sure you are prepared.

Strava & Facebook

For both on and off-season, anyone can join our optional Strava group.
